Hisham El-Essawy
Interior architect, product designer and mentor, with more than 25 years in design, interior architecture and sustainability.
Hisham El-Essawy is an Egyptian interior architect and designer, certified by the EU as both an interior architect and a product designer. He holds a master's degree in design and sustainable development, has studied design in Egypt, Germany and the United States, and is currently working toward a PhD.
His work has won the A' Design Award three times (2020, 2021 and 2023), including a Silver award for Khepri, a lamp inspired by the ancient Egyptian scarab. The World Design Consortium ranks him among the top 100 designers in the world, and World Design Rankings place him among the top 10 in Egypt.
He is Vice President of the Egyptian Handicrafts Export Council and founded HEDS Designs, HEDS Academy, Designed in Egypt and the Egyptian Designers Guild. He lectures at universities, has spoken at TEDx, consults local and international organisations on design, sustainability and industry development, sits on international design juries, and hosts the Noqta interior design podcast.
